Adding individual parts?
You can add standalone parts (not from a set) with Add parts.

Sets: use format like 107-1. Minifigures: use format like fig-001234
Metadata
The expected date format here is
yyyy/mm/dd (year/month/day), but you can configure how it is displayed in the set card with the PURCHASE_DATE_FORMAT variable.
